If there was a world...
If there was a world…
She was walking along on the wide street
Her frail heart was all filled with pain
She was walking along and was hoping
That one day she’ll meet him again.
He was sitting below that old oak tree
The place where he first held her hands
He was sitting, and thinking and singing
The old song they both knew so well
If there was a world I could give you
That would be the sweetest you had
But if I’ve no such world to give you
I’ll give you the Heaven instead
As he was sitting below that oak tree
He felt in his heart the cruel blame
And only one place he knew, one only,
That could be a cure for his pain
She was dancing all night by the river
So sad the moon shone in her eyes
For she knew he had gone to the wild sea
And he’d let the wind push him to die
If there was a world I could give you
That would be the sweetest you had
But if I’ve no such world to give you
I’ll give you the Heaven instead
